Executive Coaching
“Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it’s the only thing.”
~ Albert Schweitzer, French Philosopher and Physician
As executive coaches, we work with leaders to enhance their overall effectiveness given their specific leadership context and accountabilities. We focus on three primary areas:
- Individual leadership performance/personal effectiveness and development needs identified through assessment.
- The business/team goals for which the leader is or will be responsible. In this capacity, we serve as catalysts to help executives develop the leadership skills they need in order to achieve those goals.
- The overarching values, message, and direction which the organization would like to see its leaders reinforce and personify.
In all of these areas, the ultimate test of effectiveness is based on the results created and accomplished through people, and the personal integrity one experiences with oneself.
The Development Process
In our approach, we work to become a “trusted advisor.” The relationship involves learning, sharing, challenging, teaching, empathy, appreciation, listening, believing, visioning, and stretching. The process for coaching is depicted in the following graph:
Phase I: Set the Stage. Create a customized development process and agree on the key outcomes to be accomplished.
Phase 2: Awareness and Insight. Raise awareness of personal strengths, weaknesses, and areas of opportunity.
Phase 3: Development and Integration. Engage in customized learning and development in key improvement areas.
Phase 4: Evaluation. Monitor and assess the changes accomplished through the coaching relationship.
